Three crescent beaches — white, pink and black — wrap around volcanic ridges that lead to one of the most iconic summit panoramas on Earth.
Padar is the third-largest island in Komodo National Park, and unlike its neighbors it has no dragons. What it has instead is a 200-meter summit hike that opens onto a vista of three crescent beaches in three different sand colors — white from calcium carbonate, pink from coral fragments, and black from the island’s volcanic origins.
The trail itself has been reinforced with stone steps and rest platforms, making the climb manageable for most travelers ages six through seventy. Sunrise is the magic hour — clearer color separation, cooler temperatures and quieter ridgelines before the day-trip boats arrive.
Wake up anchored in the bay below the summit and climb before the day-trippers arrive. Talk to our team about Komodo Trip overnight liveaboards.
