Ayvara Cruises is the boat our Labuan Bajo desk points to when guests want premium comfort on a shared Komodo sailing without paying superyacht money. She is the featured boat of our operator’s 2026 open-trip lineup: a 25-metre traditional wooden phinisi carrying a maximum of 15 guests in 7 ocean-view cabins — every one air-conditioned, en-suite, and fitted with a full 160 × 200 cm queen bed. Three of the seven cabins open onto private balconies, which is genuinely rare on a hull this length; most 25-metre phinisi reserve the balcony for the master cabin alone.
Two things set the Ayvara boat apart from the rest of the premium shared fleet. The first is the 360-degree rooftop deck — a wraparound viewing platform above the shaded sundeck with clear sightlines in every direction, which earns its keep at sunrise off Padar and again at dusk when the flying foxes lift off Kalong. Some guests search for the Ayvara yacht — strictly speaking she is not a motor yacht but a traditional two-masted wooden phinisi, built in the Indonesian shipwright tradition and refitted to premium standard. The figures below come straight from her operator’s technical sheet. Note the twin 20 KVA generator sets: that redundancy is what keeps cabin air-conditioning and the satellite link running through the night at anchor, and it is a line worth checking on any Komodo liveaboard before you commit a deposit.
At 9–10 knots she is a mid-pace hull — comfortably quick enough to cover the central-park circuit of Kelor, Padar, Komodo, Manta Point and Taka Makassar inside three days without night sailing beyond the first evening’s anchorage. Open-trip rates include your cabin, all meals plus unlimited water, coffee and tea, an English-speaking guide, snorkeling gear and life vests, and Labuan Bajo hotel or airport pick-up — Ayvara departures collect guests at 08:00–09:00, slightly earlier than the fleet’s standard 09:00 window, so flag an early landing when you book. A documentation crew sails with her, shooting drone, GoPro and mirrorless footage and handing over the raw files after the trip — budget nothing extra for photography. Which cabin should you actually book? The Master is the one to fight over — the only cabin with its own lounge area as well as a balcony, and the only one that officially takes a third bed, which quietly makes it the best-value option for a couple travelling with one child. The two Deluxe cabins are the honeymoon compromise: the same balcony over the water at $40 less per person, without the lounge. The four Superiors are the group play — identical queens and panoramic windows, and when a party of eight takes all four at $450 a head, the boat starts to feel like a semi-private charter at a shared-trip price. Whichever you pick, ask Dewi to confirm the exact cabin position on deck when you book; forward cabins take slightly more engine hum, aft cabins slightly more swim-platform traffic.

Ayvara sells two ways. The open trip sells her seven cabins individually on a shared 3D2N sailing — the right format for couples and solo travellers who want a premium boat at a per-person price, with departures running weekly year-round in Friday–Sunday blocks plus separate weekday sailings for anyone allergic to weekend crowds at Padar. One shared 2026 calendar covers the operator’s whole open-trip fleet; the next three months of dates are below, and per-boat availability is confirmed at booking against the live departure schedule.
An Ayvara charter takes the whole hull from $5,500 per night on any duration from 2D1N up to 7D6N, with a fully customisable route — at 15 berths across seven real cabins she suits two or three families travelling together, a small company retreat, or a milestone birthday that wants the rooftop to itself. On timing: the dry season from April to November brings flat morning seas, the clearest water for Manta Point, and the busiest decks at Padar — those are the departures that sell out first, and the weeks where the weekday sailings earn their keep, since a Tuesday summit at Padar can feel like a different national park from a Saturday one. December to March is quieter and greener, with afternoon rain and a livelier sea state on the crossings; the boat sails the same calendar year-round, so the trade is fewer crowds against a wetter deck. Day 1 — Kelor, Manjarite & Kalong’s Flying Foxes
Pick-up from your Labuan Bajo hotel or the airport runs 08:00–09:00 for Ayvara departures, and she clears the harbor by mid-morning. First stop is Kelor Island for a short, steep ridge walk — fifteen sweaty minutes for the best warm-up view in the park — then Manjarite for the first snorkel over shallow coral gardens. She anchors for the night off Kalong Island, where tens of thousands of flying foxes stream off the mangroves at dusk; this is the evening the 360-degree rooftop deck stops being a brochure line and becomes the reason you booked her.
Day 2 — Padar at 05:15, Pink Beach, Dragons & Mantas
We time Padar for a 05:15 trailhead start — summit light before the heat, and ahead of the day-boat crowds. Mid-morning is Pink Beach for a swim over the reef, then Komodo Island itself, where a licensed ranger leads the dragon trek at IDR 200,000 per group of up to five, paid at the gate. The afternoon closes at Manta Point, drift-snorkeling over the cleaning station where reef mantas hold against the current, before she repositions toward the Taka Makassar sandbar for the golden hour.
Day 3 — Sebayur & the Run Home
A final morning snorkel at Sebayur, then the run back to Labuan Bajo at her 9–10-knot cruise — alongside by early afternoon, which is safe planning for a 16:00 flight out. Longer private routes add Gili Lawa and Rinca. Budget park fees on top of any boat rate: entry IDR 250,000 (about $16) per person per day, plus the ranger fee and IDR 25,000 harbor charge — realistically $40–50 per person across a 3D2N, itemised on our park fees & quota page.
