Booking & Trip Planning

How do I book a Komodo trip?

Contact us via WhatsApp (+62 813 3933 1732) or email (info@komodotrip.com) with your preferred dates, number of guests, and trip type interest. We respond within 2 hours with a personalised quote and itinerary recommendation. A 30% deposit confirms your booking.

How far in advance should I book?

For peak season (April-October), book 2-4 weeks ahead for shared trips and 4-8 weeks for private charters. Off-peak bookings can often be arranged within days. Luxury liveaboards during July-August should be booked 2-3 months in advance.

Can I customise my itinerary?

Yes — private charters and luxury liveaboards offer full itinerary customisation. Shared trips follow set routes but can accommodate reasonable requests. Tell our team about your priorities (diving, photography, relaxation, wildlife) and we design around your interests.

What is your cancellation policy?

14+ days before departure: full refund minus processing fees. 7-13 days: 50% refund. Less than 7 days: no refund, but rebooking to alternative dates offered subject to availability. Force majeure events receive full credit.

Do you offer group discounts?

Yes. Groups of 8+ receive preferential rates. Full-boat charters offer the best per-person value. Corporate groups, weddings, and events receive customised proposals. Contact us with your group details.

Travel & Logistics

How do I get to Labuan Bajo?

Fly to Komodo Airport (LBJ) in Labuan Bajo. Direct flights operate daily from Bali (1 hour), Jakarta (2.5 hours), and Surabaya. Airlines include Citilink, Lion Air, Nam Air, and Garuda Indonesia. From the airport, our team can arrange transfers to your hotel or directly to the harbour.

When is the best time to visit Komodo?

April to November offers the best conditions — calm seas, clear visibility, and reliable manta encounters. June-September is peak season with the driest weather. December-March is rainy season with rougher seas, but diving remains good and crowds are minimal. Each season offers different advantages.

Do I need a visa to visit Indonesia?

Most nationalities receive a 30-day Visa on Arrival (VOA) at Indonesian airports for IDR 500,000. Some nationalities qualify for free 30-day entry. Check with the Indonesian embassy for your specific nationality. Visa extensions are possible through immigration offices.

What should I pack for a Komodo trip?

Essential items: reef-safe sunscreen, swimwear, light clothing, comfortable hiking shoes (for Padar/Komodo treks), hat, sunglasses, waterproof bag for electronics, motion sickness medication if prone, and a light jacket for evening boat rides. We provide snorkelling equipment, towels, and drinking water.

Is there phone signal in Komodo National Park?

Phone signal is intermittent in the park — strong near Labuan Bajo and at some anchorages, but absent at remote sites. Most vessels have WiFi capability but speeds are limited. We recommend downloading offline maps and notifying contacts about limited connectivity during your trip.

Diving & Snorkelling

Do I need to be a certified diver to enjoy Komodo?

No. Most Komodo experiences are snorkelling-based, and our sites offer incredible visibility and marine life accessible from the surface. Certified divers can add dive packages to any trip. We also offer introductory dive experiences (Discover Scuba) for beginners who want to try diving under professional supervision.

What marine life will I see?

Komodo waters are home to manta rays, reef sharks, sea turtles, dolphins, over 1,000 fish species, and 260+ coral species. Manta encounters are most reliable April-November at Manta Point. Macro life includes pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs, and blue-ringed octopus. Every trip includes spectacular underwater encounters.

Are Komodo currents dangerous?

Some Komodo dive sites have strong currents, which is why we use experienced dive masters who assess conditions before every dive. Snorkelling sites are selected for calm conditions. Our crew monitors tides and currents in real-time, choosing sites that match your experience level. Safety is never compromised for itinerary.

Can I rent diving equipment?

Yes. Full dive equipment rental is available as part of our dive packages (2 dives: USD 80, 4 dives: USD 150, 6 dives: USD 210). Equipment includes BCD, regulator, wetsuit, mask, fins, weights, and dive computer. All equipment is regularly serviced and maintained to international safety standards.

What water temperatures should I expect?

Water temperatures range from 22-29°C depending on season and location. Southern sites (Manta Point, Batu Bolong) tend to be cooler (22-26°C) due to upwelling, while northern sites are warmer (27-29°C). We recommend a 3mm wetsuit for comfort, available for rent aboard.

Safety & Onboard Comfort

Are Komodo dragons dangerous?

Komodo dragons are wild predators and must be treated with respect. All treks on Komodo and Rinca Islands are accompanied by licensed park rangers who carry forked sticks and know dragon behaviour patterns. Follow ranger instructions at all times, maintain recommended distances, and never approach dragons alone. With proper precautions, dragon encounters are safe and unforgettable.

What safety equipment is on board?

All Komodo Trip vessels carry life jackets for every passenger, inflatable life rafts, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency communication equipment. Luxury vessels additionally carry supplemental oxygen, satellite phones, and EPIRBs. Our crews hold valid safety certifications and conduct regular emergency drills.

Is the food safe for sensitive stomachs?

Our chefs prepare fresh meals with clean, properly stored ingredients. We accommodate dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free, and allergy-specific menus with advance notice. Fresh drinking water is provided throughout. If you have specific food sensitivities, inform us during booking.

What if the weather is bad during my trip?

Our operations team monitors marine weather forecasts daily. If conditions at a scheduled site are unsuitable, we have multiple alternative sites to ensure your experience remains excellent without compromising safety. In rare cases of severe weather, we may adjust departure times or itineraries — your safety always comes first.

Is travel insurance recommended?

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering medical evacuation, trip cancellation, and diving activities. Komodo is a remote marine environment, and insurance provides essential protection. Many providers offer specific adventure travel policies that cover diving and water sports.
